Clint's birthday

For Clint's birthday, we started the day by going over to our babysitter's house--Max and I played in the kiddie pool while Clint disassembled a swing yet that Yayoi was giving us.

Then Clint worked on putting the swing set together at our house while Max anxiously waited. Does he look ready for a swing or what?

We hit El Chihuahua for lunch, then Clint relaxed for the afternoon while I grocery shopped and prepared. (I just flew in from NJ late the night before.) I made steaks, asparagus, mashed potatoes and hollandaise sauce for dinner. Clint relaxed some more and watched basketball, and for dessert we had mini lava cakes.  I think it was definitely Clint's kind of birthday. :)  Projecting, sports, and relaxing.

P.S. There were more balloons but they were sucked into the ceiling fan.  Hah!  Also don't ask me what that thing I bought for Clint is.  Some type of wood working tool, I think.

Some random Cuteness

This was Max's second haircut, which I attempted to do myself.  I have no skills, and Max wouldn't exactly hold still, so results were mixed.

Who can resist a yogurt beard?

Such a happy boy.

Max likes to have hat fashion shows.  He will find hats, put them on, and then look at himself in the mirror.

 All dressed up!

Easter

I was excited this year to celebrate Easter with Max since he was actually old enough to have some fun.  We had a little photo shoot then scatter a few eggs on the grass at the park.  Max had lots of fun playing with eggs and eating teething biscuit and fruit puffs.

My birthday: Pago and Cake

So then I had a family dinner with Clint and Max at Pago.  I started with a salad that is no longer on the menu, so I can't tell you all what's in it.  But it was pretty tasty.  There were apples and baby lettuce and I think pistachios and some type of candied something or another sprinkled on top.

For my entree I had the Steak-Frites which was described as "C.A.B. bavette steak, Yukon Gold fries, nasturtium & pernod bearnaise."  I had thought it would arrive with a picturesque nasturtium decorating it, but I suppose it was blended up in the sauce. The steak was very tender and delicious, but rather salty.  The fries were good too, but even more salty.  And that arugula salad?  Well, I wouldn't have ordered a salad plate first if I had known the entree came with a salad.  But it's a good thing I did because this salad was inedible because it was SALTED.  Heavily salted.  What an injustice to the regal arugula which I adore.

Clint got the Pago burger which he thought was very good, but he was disturbed about paying so much for a burger.  IT was a very gourmet burger though, and it came with truffle fries which again were amazing, but so overly salted we could't even finish them.  I think these were the worst offender with the salt.   Honestly, I was blown away that a fine dining establishment would destroy their food by over salting it.  Maybe I should have complained.  At any rate, I won't be going back.

After the restaurant we headed home to have some cake and ice cream with friends.   It was a lovely birthday, which was actually well documented this year.

My birthday: Thanksgiving Point

For my birthday I went to Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival with my sister and her kids (minus Ben who was at school).

Then we had some sister-sister bonding time because Jacob graciously watched the napping babies and Alex while we got delicious salads at Cubbies and did a little light shopping at the near by outlets.

Springtime Fun with Cousins

We visited the animal farm at Thanksgiving Point, and Max loved the animals.

Afterwards Auntie Megan made some delicious pasta.

Another day we played at the children's museum with cousins.

And later in spring we went to the Aviary in Salt Lake.

It may have been spring, but our picnic was cold and windy!

Birthday Party

For Max's birthday we had a little celebration with family and a few friends.
